Envy have added three new players to their ESEA roster ahead of the first North American ESL One Rio Major open qualifier.
Kaleb "moose" Jayne spent a majority of 2019 playing under the eUnited banner, briefly stepping down from the active roster in September after the signing of Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir. He made his return to the team two months later after the benching of Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, competing alongside them in the IEM Katowice 2020 qualifiers and the fifth Mythic Cup to no avail.
More recently, the 21-year-old Canadian was seen playing as a stand-in for the North American Singularity roster in WINNERS League Season 3 Invite and the DreamHack Open Anaheim qualifier just prior to the organization releasing their remaining American players. A report from cybersport.pl also recently linked moose to the final spot on the Envy roster, citing his eUnited teammate Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado as another candidate that was considered.
Envy's roster for the qualifier also contains Michał "MICHU" Müller and Buğra "Calyx" Arkın, with the two players previously being linked with moves to the organization by reports from cybersport.pl and DBLTAP, respectively. Notably, both publications reported that Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić would take up the role of coach for the squad, although the former BIG member has yet to join the above roster as of the publication of this article.
Envy began the year by benching Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor and Jacob "FugLy" Medina, with the latter player releasing a lengthy TwitLonger discussing his frustrations towards the end of his time on the team. Prior to the benching of the two players, Envy had transferred Sam "s0m" Oh to Gen.G, and parted ways with coach Zachary "Eley" Stauffer and manager Taylor "Tailored"Broomall, leaving them to rebuild around their two remaining players.
Envy's roster for the upcoming ESL One Rio Major open qualifier looks to be:
Noah "Nifty" Francis
Ryan "ryann" Welsh
Buğra "Calyx" Arkın
Michał "MICHU" Müller
Kaleb "moose" Jayne
